Our Journey Begins

Monica, a dedicated single mother of two, faced a familiar hurdle: college admissions. Her oldest daughter was gearing up to apply, but the school advisor delivered a blunt message. Her resume needed more spark to compete for top schools. Extracurriculars were thin, and standout experiences were scarce.

We were friends with Monica for many years and living in Barranquilla, Colombia at that time. Monica mentioned this problem to us on one of our calls. We brainstormed and proposed a bold idea: Send her daughter to stay with us for two weeks. She did visit us and it was fun time. We put her in touch with the local public schools for her to teach conversational English to elementary students. She loved to do environment cleanup on local beaches. Colombians live lives to the full extent and cultural activities are never short in supply. As a bonus we took her daughter to nearby towns of Santa Marta and Cartagena as well. Santa Marta has some gorgeous beaches and nothing like reliving the Spanish colonial history like the old town in Cartagena.

Sofia loved the experience, building confidence, leadership skills, and unforgettable stories. She wove these vivid, sensory-rich experiences into a compelling college essay that highlighted her global perspective and initiative.

As we reflected, the lightbulb moment hit: Parents everywhere crave these transformative cultural experiences for their kids, but no one was organizing them professionally. Demand was clear; supply was not. Why not fill the gap? It’s fun, impactful, and deeply rewarding—so we launched our educational tourism venture, turning one family’s success into opportunities for many.
