FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Colombia a safe destination for student tours

Colombia has come a long way from the days of Pablo Escobar. The northern part of Colombia is exceptionally safe and the city of Barranquilla (especially North Barranquilla where the students will be staying) is even safer. North Barranquilla is only 2 and a half hours from Miami.

We have partnered with local organizations that understand the importance of young students visiting their city. Through Elite Student Experiences, students can be cultural ambassadors that will carry Colombia’s positive image to rest of the world. Simultaneously these young people will be creating lived experiences that will enhance their college applications.

Will students be exposed to drug use during the Colombia tour?

You would be surprised to know that it is extremely rare to encounter drug usage in this part of the world these days. The only place where you might see such activity will be in the touristic center of Cartagena thanks to Western tourists. We will be taking full precautions to make sure the students will not be exposed to such activities.

What kind of accommodation and facilities will be provided to students during the tour?

The accommodation will be at par with what they experience in the USA, with air-conditioning, high speed internet. We will be providing food services for both vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. Students will also have access to the kitchen in case they want to cook for themselves. We will also be providing all other amenities such as laundry services.

What kind of medical support and insurance is available for students during the trip?

Your students are fully insured for medical purposes and if needed, will see a doctor who speaks English and studied in USA or Europe. Barranquilla is the medical center and cosmological surgery capital of Latin America. Do let us know if you need references to a good doctor/surgeon for yourself.

Ready to take the next step? We’ll guide you through every part of the process.

Will there be language support and guidance for students throughout the trip?

We will have fully bilingual staff on call 24×7 while the students are in Colombia. Our English-speaking local host will be greeting the students when they land in Colombia and be available during the their stay for any questions for concerns that arise. There is no plan for students to visit local churches or attend religious services. If a student must attend a church, then we can point them to various local options.
